There are plenty of reasons to live in **Merida, a tranquil and peaceful city distinguished for providing a high quality of life and its proximity to internationally recognized archaeological sites**, such as the highly visited pyramids of Chichen Itza.

## **For Fostering a Culture of Learning**
**The UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities consists of 356 cities\*.** It aims to promote inclusive learning across all educational levels, workplace learning, the use of modern learning technologies, and the fostering of a culture of lifelong learning.
With 10 years of existence, **this network announced on February 14th, 2024, the cities that passed the evaluation process to join the action plan for education**, a process in which **Merida demonstrated having the necessary characteristics for its admission**

**Merida**, along with 63 other cities from 35 countries, **has been recognized for its outstanding efforts in promoting lifelong learning**, thus joining 12 other Mexican cities renowned for their commitment to education and sustainable development.
With its recent inclusion, **the capital of Yucatan will focus on three important pillars: equity and inclusion, decent work and entrepreneurship, and environmental sustainability**. In this way, it will exchange learning policies and practices with other cities and develop knowledge and solutions in key areas for sustainable development.
