**Choosing where to live is a decision that significantly impacts quality of life**. Factors such as cost of living, quality of public services, level of safety, access to good education and healthcare services, as well as a diverse cultural and entertainment scene, become relevant when evaluating the perfect city to reside in.

This 2024, the **Mexican Institute for Competitiveness** (**IMCO**) has positioned **Merida**, the capital of Yucatan, as **the city with the best quality of life in Mexico.1** We invite you to read this article and consider living in this privileged metropolis in the southeast of Mexico.

## This is How Quality of Life is Evaluated

**For many years, IMCO has been generating the Urban Competitiveness Index (ICU), which measures, through 69 indicators, the quality of life in 66 cities across the country.2** This instrument allows for the evaluation of cities' ability to generate, attract, and retain talent and investment.

With the results of the **ICU**, it's possible to **identify cities that offer a better quality of life** at a more accessible cost. Among the aspects considered in this evaluative exercise are:

- **Economy:** Job creation, income levels, and productive efficiency.
- **Education:** Reach, level of excellence, and infrastructure.
- **Health:** Coverage, quality standards, and infrastructure.
- **Governance:** Guarantee of citizen security, transparency, and accountability.
- **Environment:** Air and water quality, and preservation of natural areas.
- **Housing:** Availability of homes, affordability, and habitability standards.

## A City With Leadership in Security, Education, and Health

**Merida has been recognized as the city with the best quality of life in Mexico in 2024**, standing out for its leadership in **security**, **education**, and **healthcare services**. The educational infrastructure in Merida is outstanding, medical services are efficient and of high quality, and the perception of safety is exceptional.

**This beautiful city also stands out for its cultural and gastronomic richness**, making living in it a highly privileged experience. **At SIMCA, we are confident that Merida will continue to be a benchmark in the country and the preferred destination for those seeking a high standard of living.**

## Improve Your Quality of Life in La Region

If you're in search of a new home for your family, in an environment that provides security and the best quality of life, consider moving to **Merida**.
